Kimberly Kaufman, Ph.D.

Finding the right therapist can be a challenge: not only do you seek someone with the right expertise for your situation, but it is essential that you connect with that person and feel comfortable sharing deeply personal information.  Perhaps the most rewarding feedback I’ve received from clients is that they find me to be a warm and supportive professional, one with whom they feel safe sharing their feelings, worries, successes, and struggles.  With that strong foundation of trust, I help my clients develop and use effective strategies to decrease anxiety, improve mood, strengthen relationships, and change problematic behaviors.

My work with adults includes treating depression and anxiety, handling life transitions, confronting negative patterns of behavior, and coping with traumatic events.  Using CBT and supportive psychotherapy, I focus on fostering clients’ strengths so that they can more effectively enact changes or manage these difficult situations.

When treating children and adolescents, my focus is most often on behavior problems, anxiety issues, and social difficulties.  Treatment for children facing such troubles typically involves the family as well, and I have a particular interest in helping parents adapt their parenting skills to best support their children’s unique challenges.
