Charles Oliner, M.D.

Dr. Charles Oliner is an empathetic, diligent, and attentive Gastroenterologist.  His goal for his patients is to have all their concerns heard and addressed and to effectively communicate a diagnosis.  Being Board Certified as both an Internist and a Gastroenterologist he believes in addressing not only the GI tract but the body as a whole.

Raised in New York, Dr.Oliner graduated from Columbia College and completed his medical school at SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.  He performed both his Residency in Internal Medicine and his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at University Hospital of Brooklyn. 

Dr Oliner practices General Gastroenterology and his interests include Colon Cancer Screening, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Celiac disease, Nutrition, gallstone disease, generalized abdominal pain, constipation, reflux disease, as well as hemorrhoids.  Additionally he is currently treating patients with Hepatitis as well as Pancreaticobiliary diseases. He performs screening of colon cancer and is adept in diagnostic and therapeutic colonoscopy, endoscopy, Bravo pH monitoring and capsule endoscopy.

Dr. Oliner has published and presented several articles in national peer-reviewed journals and major GI conferences.  He is an actively involved in medical education and is a Clinical Assistant Professor at SUNY Downstate and is an Attending at Weill Cornell Medical College where he performs his duties at New York Presbyterian Lower Manhattan

Dr. Oliner specializes in the digestive system, treating patients experiencing extreme heartburn, chronic constipation or diarrhea, unexplained abdominal pain and similar symptoms. Her extensive training and experience in this area allows him to quickly and accurately diagnose and form a treatment plan, enabling patients to improve their health and overall well-being.

Compassionate Testing

The techniques used to accurately diagnose digestion tract issues can be worrisome and unnerving for many patients, but Dr. Oliner’s experience allow him to expertly execute these procedures with a focus on patient comfort and ease. He routinely performs colonoscopies and endoscopies, tests that act as the first step in treating a host of gastrointestinal issues. And in an effort to provide her patients with the utmost in care, Dr. Oliner often turns to state-of-the-art testing methods.

Colonoscopies aid doctors in screening for colorectal cancer, polyps, and inflammation, as well as in removing polyps quickly and easily. During this procedure, Dr. Rubin carefully inserts a thin, flexible tube outfitted with a miniscule video camera and light into the rectum and through the large intestine to thoroughly examine the area and look for abnormalities.

Thorough Treatment Plans

Dr. Oliner’s training and experience allow her to create comprehensive, customized treatment plans for each of her patients, treating one or more conditions with efficiency and care. During traditional endoscopies and colonoscopies, Dr. Rubin routinely removes polyps, dramatically reducing the risk of cancer while alleviating symptoms such as rectal bleeding and abnormal bowel habits, including diarrhea and constipation.

He also treats and manages various types of cancer, Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, celiac disease and other food intolerances. For those suffering from heartburn or gastro-esophageal reflux disease, treatment plans include a regimen of over-the-counter and prescription drugs as well as surgical options as necessary, including the application of Linx devices and surgeries to reinforce the esophagus.
